In the garage that looked like my real life bedroom. I was sleeping in the passenger seat of my mom’s car after staying with my partner late. When I woke up, one of my partner’s cats had showed up in the garage and revealed he had made a family of kittens on the shelves. After I texted my boyfriend about this, I went up to clean the messes I had made, like there are in my room. I noticed a trace of movement between edges of a mirror on the wall and realized I could see through my wall into my sibling’s room. I opened my door and went out of my room to say “im going to be cleaning my room now”, which explained my noises and moving around without going up to my sibling and speaking in a conversation, because he hates when I acknowledge him. In my room, i decided to take everything out of my cupboard and put all the shelves on the bottom half so I could fill the top half with all the things piled up around my room/garage. While I did this, I noticed my sibling wasn’t as obviously mad as I thought they would be. I got as far as moving the shelves, but didn’t finish cleaning my piles. I looked out the garage door and saw a man at the kitchen window, holding up a couple of jars. He told me he was borrowing them from my mom, and I said that was okay, I thought he was a relative on my dad’s side of the family that I haven’t seen in a few years, but then (I don’t remember who - the cat or my brother) told me that was a guy my mom has been seeing after the divorce, which felt more awkward. I had wanted to reconnect with the family member, but letting my mom’s dates see me as interactable was too personal. Then my mom arrived and she would drive us out - my sibling wasn’t feeling well, so even though we never are calm in the same place we would have to be in the car together while she drove him to the doctor for his sore teeth, while I tried to think and be visually obvious as little as possible during the car ride so I wouldn’t offend them. Her date was in the front seat so I was in the back this time, and after a long time driving I noticed in my sibling’s seat was a person dressed very differently to them. I knew my sibling had expressed some trans identity in our teen years, but hadn’t pursued HRT or passing as female, instead growing their hair shoulder length and wearing all black boys clothes. This must have been a mysteriously willing to communicate sibling, who for some reason was letting me see how they presented now that they were grown-up. They had purple hair and wore an orange sling bikini top with loose pants and platform boots, and after I noticed their visual appearance and tried to go back to not being an offendingly present person, they complained how uncomfortable the seat was. I was hesitant to say anything in case of fights but since they had broken the pattern, I said something about getting them a comfortable fit cushion that would be better for future car rides, and demonstrated how I adjust my seating by pushing myself up on the seat and resettling my legs under me. My sibling slid down their seat instead, laying half down. I noticed their flat and exposed belly shape and smooth ribcage at their sides. I was only surprised that they would let their family see their self expression since we hadn’t been on good terms for so long. Eventually since they seemed to be so different I did ask if there was a gender identification present, I couldn’t hear them well at first but heard there was an X sound at the end, eventually after asking them to spell it and say it again a couple times they explained it was like Adderekx or something like that. I didn’t get around to asking about pronouns although I think she used she once for herself, but wasn’t jusg a girl identity fully at all but something further that I hadn’t reached in my own transition, being female to male in real life. I got dropped off at my work but my mom paused as I got out to give me her phone where my grandpa, her dad, was FaceTiming. I said hi in Chinese and how are you but I couldn’t make out a lot of what he was saying since his voice is so low. My mom’s date tried to read him a few lines off a paper but he understood the English way better than the other guy was reading him Chinese. The example sentences were stuff like “Five gallon buckets of cement please” and “You can put the potato’s in the hot dog.” I made a joke about that to my mom and then went out to my job. It was bigger than my normal workplace and I went around the lines to look for the items I had planned to buy for my pet rabbit and to go to the break room before my shift started so I could tell my discord friends about this. When I started talking about my sibling a couple other people started talking about siblings from their comics and shows that people shipped together due to the actors being hot or whatever, which is fine for them but not what I was experiencing at all. Now that I’ve woken up, I think the sibling couldn’t have been my real sibling after all, but I must have missed when they got dropped off to their doctor visit and my mom picked up her partner and his kid, who represented the way I feel about how I want to be someone cool, but keep this pictured idea of them so far away from me that I don’t even ask what it really means to become someone like that as me. What do you think about all of these parts of the experience?
This dream seems to weave together themes of identity, change, family dynamics, and personal growth. Each element of your dream might represent various aspects of your inner thoughts and feelings:
The Garage and Bedroom: The blending of your garage and bedroom setting may reflect a fusion of personal life and external influences. Garages often symbolize storage or transition, suggesting a time in your life where you are sorting through past experiences, represented by the "messes" you want to clean, and integrating them with your current identity.
Cat and Kittens: Cats often symbolize independence and mystery. A cat bringing kittens into the garage could signify nurturing new ideas or projects. It aligns with the familial context in the dream, suggesting a nurturing of new aspects within your family or personal life.
Sibling Relationship: The connection between the living spaces, visible through the mirror, could illustrate an underlying connection or desire for understanding between you and your sibling. The awkwardness in communication with your sibling might represent a real-life distance or tension, yet their different appearance and acceptance could suggest a desire for or imagined evolution and reconciliation in your relationship.
Mother's Date and Family Dynamics: Meeting your mother's date who seemed like a relative reflects concerns about new family dynamics post-divorce. It might symbolize discomfort with changes in family structure and acknowledging new relationships.
Siblings in the Car: The surprising transformation of your sibling hints at deeper issues of identity, both yours and theirs. You might subconsciously be processing thoughts about gender expression and acceptance, both personally and within your family context.
Work and Social Interaction: Being in a bigger workplace and interacting online could highlight feelings of being lost or uncertain in a new phase of life. Sharing your experience with others online but being met with unrelated stories might suggest a lack of understanding or connection with your own experiences.
Grandpa and Language: Difficulty in understanding your grandpa's low voice or the incorrect translations might signal disconnection from cultural or familial roots. The use of incorrect translations could hint at moments of misunderstanding or comedic relief in dealing with complex family dynamics.
Overall, this dream could be reflecting your journey of identity, expressing both your struggles and aspirations toward self-discovery. You're processing changes within your family while exploring your own path, seeking ways to navigate these with acceptance and understanding. It's rich with symbols tied to personal growth, acceptance of self and others, and the navigation of familial relationships.
